Stephen Bacso BSc, MBA – President & CEO
|
|
Mr. Bacso holds a Science degree from the University of Western
Ontario, and is an MBA graduate from the University of Western Ontario's
Richard Ivey School of Business. In 1996, he founded PixStream Inc., a
company that built and marketed digital video networking equipment for
the global telecommunications industry. As President & CEO from 1996-1999,
he led the company through the selling of a minority interest to Newbridge
Networks Corporation (Now Alcatel), and also raised financing from strategic
and institutional investors. PixStream was acquired by Cisco Systems of San
Jose, California, in 2000 for $544M.

From 1993 to 1996, Mr. Bacso served as President and CEO of ObjectSoft
Incorporated, a developer of multimedia computer software and hardware products.
Mr. Bacso led business and product planning for the company's leading-edge
multimedia products and directed the research and development of multimedia
and networking. He also provided product and market expertise to third party
companies involved in acquisitions of multimedia computer companies.
Mr. Bacso has worked on US military projects in both engineering and leadership
roles. The engineering projects included the US Army's Light Helicopter (LHX),
and the US Air Force Advanced Tactical Fighter (F22). He led project teams focused
on advanced design of 3D computer graphics and video displays for pilots. He also
worked on technical feasibility and business concept projects to move that same
technology to commercial markets.

Bruce M. Antonello, HBc, MHA, CHE - VP of Business Development

Mr. Antonello holds a Bachelor of Commerce
(Hons.) from Carleton University and a Masters in Health Care Administration from the
University of Ottawa. Mr. Antonello held senior portfolios with the Ottawa General Hospital
and the Ontario Ministry of Health prior to being appointed President and CEO of St. Mary's
General Hospital in December of 1982, a post he held until the spring of 2004. Among his most
significant achievements while CEO of St. Mary's were the creation of the St. Mary's
Regional Cardiac Centre and the approval of the Hospital's $100M capital redevelopment.

Mr. Antonello has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Hospital Association,
as a board member and chair (1995-98) of the Catholic Health Association of Ontario, as an
Ontario Director on the Board of the Canadian College of Health Services Executives (from which
he has the designation, Certified Health Executive) and as Ontario representative on the Board
of the Catholic Health Association of Canada. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors
of the St. Mary's General Hospital Foundation, a member of the Board of Directors of KidsAbility,
a children's development centre and member of the Grants Committee of the K-W Community Foundation.
Mr. Antonello is a member of the Kitchener Conestoga Rotary Club, where he served as President in
1996-97. In 2004, Mr. Antonello received the Diocese of Hamilton, Medal of Honour, in recognition
of his 21 year tenure as President and CEO of St. Mary's General Hospital, Kitchener.

Dr. Gerard Shoemaker, HBSc, MD, FRCPC
|
|
Dr. Shoemaker is currently a practicing cardiologist and is Assistant Professor of Medicine at
the University of Western Ontario in London. He has a clinical interest in cardiac rehabilitation
and is a Co-Director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention Program at the London
Health Sciences Centre.

His primary research interest is in pulmonary hypertension. Dr. Shoemaker
is Co-Director of the Southwestern Ontario Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic and Research Lab.
Dr Shoemaker has been involved in numerous clinical trials evaluating new therapies for pulmonary
hypertension. He is a frequent guest lecturer on the topic.
As well as running a busy clinical practice, Dr. Shoemaker is active in the
undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programs at the University of
Western Ontario. He regularly lectures to students at all levels and is a
student tutor for the medical school problem-based learning modules.
Dr. Shoemaker began his academic career at the University of Waterloo receiving
his Honours BSc in Kinesiology. He went on to pursue graduate studies and his medical
degree at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Dr. Shoemaker completed his
training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Andrew K. C. Wong, MSc, PhD

|
Dr. Andrew K.C. Wong, a world-renowned engineer-scientist, has made pioneering and significant
contributions to the multi-facet fields of knowledge based systems, machine intelligence, computer
vision and intelligent robotics. His outstanding track record in knowledge and technology transfer
business continues to bear significant impact on healthcare, biomedical and engineering applications.

Dr. Wong holds a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University; and a B.Sc (Honours) and an M.Sc. from
the Hong Kong University. He is an IEEE Fellow for his contribution in machine intelligence,
computer vision, and intelligent robotics.
Dr. Wong currently is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus (Systems Design Engineering) at the
University of Waterloo where he is also an Adjunct Professor of the School of Computer Sciences
and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. He was the Founding Director of the
renowned Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence Laboratory (PAMI Lab) and a Distinguished
Chair Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (00-03).
Dr. Wong is a founder, and retired director (93-03) of Virtek Vision International Corporation.
Virtek is a publicly traded company and is a leader in laser vision technology. He was president
of the organization from 1986 to 1993 and later served as Chairman from 1993 to 1997. In 1997,
he co-founded Pattern Discovery Software Systems Ltd. and has served as Chairman ever since.

Mr. Thomas K. Hunter, HBA, LLB

Mr. Hunter received his law degree from the University of Western Ontario and was called to
the Ontario Bar in 1988. He also holds an honours degree in Business Administration from Wilfrid
Laurier University. A partner with Gowlings since 1995, Mr. Hunter practices in the area of corporate,
commercial and technology law as head of the firm's Waterloo Region Business Law Group. His particular
areas of focus include assisting startup and growth oriented companies, mergers and acquisitions and
all aspects of equity and debt financing. Mr. Hunter was lead Counsel in the creation of PixStream
Incorporated in 1996 and led the divestiture transaction of PixStream to Cisco in 2000 for a sale
price of $544 million Cdn.

Mr. Hunter is actively involved with Communitech (Waterloo Region's Community Technology Association),
the Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship at Wilfrid Laurier University, and is a member of the
Advisory Council for the Centre for Business, Entrepreneurship & Technology at the University of
Waterloo. Mr. Hunter is a frequent guest lecturer on matters relating to mergers, acquisitions,
financing, corporate governance and startup enterprises.
Mr. Hunter is the Chair of the Waterloo Region Catholic Schools Foundation and serves on the
Nominating Committee of St. Paul's United College at the University of Waterloo. He is also a
member of the Corporate Governance and Audit Committee and on the Board of Governors of St.
Mary's General Hospital, and serves as counsel to the Kitchener-Waterloo Counselling Services Inc.
He is a member of the University of Western Ontario Waterloo/Wellington Business Club, the
Conservative Business Association of Kitchener-Waterloo, the Canadian Bar Association and
the Canadian Venture Capital Association.
